Illinois Real Estate License Exam Prep Frequently Asked Questions

For whom is the exam prep program designed?
The Illinois real estate exam prep program is designed for you if:

  1. you are a currently licensed salesperson needing to pass the state exam to get your broker license, or
  2. a long period of time has passed since you took your real estate prelicense program of study and you want to brush up your knowledge before taking the state exam.

If I use an exam prep program, do I still need to complete a real estate prelicense program of study?
Yes.  If you are not currently a licensed real estate salesperson or broker in Illinois, you will need to complete a prelicense program of study.  An exam prep program does not replace the required real estate licensing program.  For information on ProSchools’ Illinois real estate prelicense program, click here.

What is the exam prep course?
ProSchools’ exam prep contains more than 2,000 questions in a multiple-choice format.  The questions are available on the Internet – all you need is a username and password, and you’re off and running.  The huge value added by ProSchools’ program is that we provide you with a full explanation as to why each answer is correct.  You may take each quiz as many times as you like.  The program will keep track of your scores for you, so you can easily see your progress.

What topics are covered in the exam prep course?
ProSchools exam prep program covers fundamental topics like real estate law, finance and practices.  In addition you’ll learn a lot about agency, contracts, property management, property descriptions, appraisals, closings, math, and more.

How does the testing program work?
The online program allows you to take quizzes in multiple formats.  You may take them in “open review” or “scored” format.  “Open review” format allows you access to answers and explanations thereby helping you learn the course material.  You will know immediately if your answer is "Correct" or "Incorrect," plus you will have instant access to a comprehensive explanation.

The “Scored” format helps test your comprehension and retention of the material.  It simulates real-world exam conditions, in that you will answer each question without access to the correct answer or explanation. When you are finished, your score is presented.  The score provides you with insight as to how well prepared you are at any given point to take the state exam.  You will also have the opportunity to see any questions you missed and have access to a comprehensive explanation.
