Hawaii Real Estate License Renewal & Continuing Education: Frequently Asked Questions

What are the required continuing education hours for Hawaii real estate professionals?
Hawaii real estate licenses need to be renewed every two years.  Licenses must be renewed prior to November 30 of each even-numbered year (e.g., 2006, 2008, 2010).

Ten hours of continuing education credit are required for each renewal cycle.  Four of the ten hours must be in a “core course” program of study.

What courses are available to meet my continuing education needs?
ProSchools offers several online continuing education courses.  All have been reviewed and approved by the Hawaii Real Estate Commission.  The ProSchools courses are well-recognized as highest quality and accepted in Hawaii for continuing education credit.

What is the core course?
Every renewal cycle, the Hawaii Real Estate Commission selects three or four topics of key interest to real estate professionals and requires that ALL licensees take a four-credit hour course covering these “key interest” topics.  Generally, the core course topics relate to new law changes, and/or clarification in areas where the Commission has received consumer complaints about interactions with real estate professionals

How do I receive a certificate of completion?
ProSchools guarantees we’ll issue your certificate of completion within 24 hours of receiving your final exam and course evaluation form via the Internet.

What’s a passing score on a continuing education course final exam?
70% or better.  However, don’t sweat it – the exams can be completed open-book.

What happens if I fail my final exam?
If you fail to pass the final for a ProSchools course, an alternate final exam will be issued until you do pass.
