Colorado Real Estate License Requirements
To obtain a real estate broker license in Colorado, you need to:

  1. Complete the educational requirements. You must complete a state-approved prelicense program like ProSchools’. Ours includes study materials, questions, and practice quizzes and exams to complete online.
  2. Complete a background check. Submit to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) a set of fingerprints and a processing fee to conduct a criminal background check. We encourage you to submit your documentation promptly because processing can take several weeks.
  3. Pass the CO real estate license exam. You will need to pass a 154-question multiple-choice exam with a score of 75% or better. When you complete ProSchools’ program, you will have over a 95% chance of passing.
  4. Be at least 18 years old.
  5. Be a U.S. citizen/national or alien authorized to work in the United States.
  6. Complete a license application and pay the corresponding fee. The associate broker license application will be provided to you at the test site upon successfully passing the Colorado real estate exam.

If you are an agent licensed in another state, you need to:

  1. Contact the State of Colorado Real Estate Commission to determine if Colorado has a reciprocal licensing agreement with the state in which you are actively licensed.
  2. Request a license history/verification be sent from the regulatory agency of the state in which you are actively licensed to the Colorado Real Estate Commission.

  4. Complete the educational requirements. Salespersons licensed in another state must complete a state-approved prelicense program like ProSchools’. Ours includes study materials, questions, and practice quizzes and exams to complete on your home computer.
  5. Pass the CO real estate license exam. In most cases, you will need to pass a multiple-choice broker license exam with a score of 75% or better. When you complete ProSchools’ program, you will have over a 95% chance of passing.
