Why is ProSchools' program better than the competition?
You may find cheaper programs, but you will not be able to find a better program of study. Our high pass-rates prove we are the best at getting new real estate careers launched!
How can I learn more about what a real estate career really offers?
Visit the career information section of our Web site for a helpful overview of the exciting world of real estate. Talking to successful professionals is another great way to learn more about being a real estate agent on a daily basis. Check out our free articles to help you decide if a real estate career is right for you!
How long does it take to complete the program of study?
The Colorado prelicense program is 168 hours. You’ll spend that time
reading, reviewing key definitions, taking quizzes, and practicing for
the state exam by taking practice exams. Typically students take
two to three months to complete the full program of study. It just depends on
how much time you commit to studying on a regular basis.
Do I need a college degree to get my real estate license?
No, the only education required is a state-approved prelicense course like ProSchools’.
For a mere fraction of the cost of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree,
you could earn a six-figure income and have a flexible schedule! Visit our License Requirements page for more licensing information.
Should I get any additional books on the subject?
Sure, reading as much as you can about succeeding as a real estate agent is a
wise strategy. ProSchools offers an array of books, including Real Estate Field
Manual, On Track to Success in 30 Days, Real Estate Prospecting, and many more
in our online bookstore.
What kind of financial aid or payment plans are available?
U.S. Bank has a special tuition financing program tailored specifically
for ProSchools students. It’s a fast and easy application process,
with quick turnaround and flexible terms. Call Matthew Sly or Shelly Benzmiller at U.S. Bank: (503)
643-6741.
What kind of computer do I need to use the Colorado prelicense program?
We recommend using a computer (PC compatible or Macintosh) with at least a 200-MHz processor, a minimum of 64 MB of RAM, and a monitor with resolution set to at least 800 x 600. Most computers purchased or upgraded in the last 3 to 4 years meet these requirements.
You will need a reliable Internet connection with a minimum speed of 35k to 40k. This is well within the range of most computers with a 56k modem. You will also need an Internet browser installed. We recommend Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, versions 4.0 or later.
To access course materials, you’ll need Adobe Acrobat and Macromedia Flash software, which is installed on most computers or available for free downloading.
To obtain a new real estate salesperson license in Colorado, you need to:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be a U.S. citizen/national or alien authorized to work in the United States.
- Submit to the CBI a set of fingerprints.
- Complete a 168-hour real estate prelicense course.
- Pass an associate broker license exam.
- Complete a license application and pay the corresponding fee.
If you hold a current license from another state, you may be able to forego some or all of the prelicense course requirement and/or the requirement to take the national (uniform) portion of the exam. There is a form on the Colorado Real Estate Broker License Application that details all the course work and exam requirements.
ProSchools' prelicense practice exams are designed to mirror the style and difficulty level of questions you will encounter on the state exam.
In Colorado, residential and commercial real estate professionals receive
the same license. The same coursework and state exam are required to receive
the license.
Why is a background check required?
Since real estate professionals have access to homes, businesses, and
personal and financial information, state licensing agencies need to protect
the public by ensuring only trustworthy people enter the profession. Prior
to receiving your license, you must have a police background check and
submit fingerprints.
Effective August 9, 2005, prior to submitting an application for a license, you must submit one set of fingerprints to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Contact the CBI to verify charges. They can be reached at 303.239.4208. A list of fingerprinting services can be found at the Colorado Real Estate Commission Web site.
