ProSchools Approved to Offer Arizona SAFE Comprehensive Course

ProSchools Courses Approved to Meet NMLS Education Requirements in Arizona

ProSchools, an NMLS-approved provider, has received approval to offer the mandated SAFE Comprehensive course for Arizona mortgage loan originators. This online instructor led course meets the 20-Hour NMLS education requirement for Arizona mortgage loan originators.

The “SAFE Act” (Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008), signed by President Bush in July 2008, gave states a year to pass legislation that would require loan originators meet national standards, including passing a state and national exam, plus fulfilling minimum education requirements.

"ProSchools is excited to be one of the first to get approval and be able to offer this new certification course," says Gary Sternberg, lead insurance instructor for ProSchools.

To be a licensed loan originator in Arizona, all loan originators must complete an NMLS-approved 20-Hour Arizona SAFE Comprehensive course by July 1, 2010. Anyone wanting to be licensed after July 1, 2010 will have to complete the 20-hour course prior to becoming a licensed loan originator

In addition, Arizona loan originators will have to pass the National and Arizona components of the NMLS exam by July 1, 2010. The passing score on each exam is 75%. Anyone wanting to get licensed after July 1, 2010 will have to pass the NMLS exam prior to becoming a licensed loan originator.

“ProSchools received NMLS approval as a provider in July and we just received approval for our 20-Hour Arizona SAFE Comprehensive course,” says Deanne Gillock, Regulatory Director for ProSchools. “Courses are online instructor-led, giving students flexibility so they can continue to work at their job while staying in compliance with requirements of the SAFE Act. We are in the process of getting our live classes approved as well.”

ProSchools is awaiting approval of courses in additional states. All ProSchools 20-hour courses are designed to not only meet the 20-hour educational requirement, but to help loan originators pass the state and national exams.
