Pennsylvania Mortgage Broker License Renewal & Continuing Education: Frequently Asked Questions

What are the continuing education and testing requirements?
Pennsylvania does require one separate mortgage professional at each licensed location to complete at least 6 credit hours of continuing education per annual renewal period, including 1 hour of Pennsylvania residential mortgage law and 1 hour of business ethics, in order for the licensee to renew its license.

During what time period must I take the CE courses for them to count toward the required total hours?
You must take your CE courses during the renewal period.

What is the annual renewal period?
The same as the licensing period; beginning July 1 of one calendar year and ending June 30 of the next calendar year

Can I carry over continuing education hours from one renewal cycle
to the next?

No. Course credits earned during one renewal period may not be carried over to the next licensing period.

What happens if I don’t complete my continuing education requirement?
Any licensee that fails to comply with any of the requirements may be fined up to $2000 for each offense and/or have its license suspended, revoked, or not renewed.
