Oklahoma Mortgage Loan Originator License Requirements
Oklahoma law requires all mortgage loan originator applicants to have 18 months experience as a mortgage loan originator or pass a state-approved exam prior to working as a loan originator. The exam covers state and federal laws and rules relating to mortgage lending. 

To work as a mortgage loan originator in Oklahoma, you need to:

  1. Be at least 21 years of age.
  2. Be a citizen of the United States of America or a lawfully admitted alien.
  3. Complete an application with the name of the licensed mortgage broker sponsoring you.
  4. Have at least 18 months of experience as a mortgage loan originator or pass the state mortgage lending exam.
  5. Not have been convicted of a criminal offense the state determines directly relates to the occupation of a mortgage loan originator.

Oklahoma Mortgage Lending License Exam Information

The license examination is administered at the Oklahoma Department of Consumer Credit. To schedule an exam date and time, contact the Department at (405) 522-4672.

To schedule an exam, you will need to provide the following information:

  1. Personal information – legal name, address,
  2. Name of the company you work for, including state and county location
  3. Exam fees ($150) paid in full

Upon arriving at the test center, you’ll need to show two pieces of ID (one photo-bearing), copy of your receipt and a copy of your account information. The test consists of 100 multiple choice and true or false questions.

You will have plenty of time to complete the exam. Be sure to attempt to answer every question. A minimum score of 70% is required to pass the exam.
