What are continuing education requirements for renewing my Illinois insurance
license?
Illinois insurance licenses must be renewed every two years. Thirty (30) hours of CE hours must be completed by the renewal date and within the current
license period.
Are there any requirements to sell Long Term Care Insurance?
Yes. To sell, solicit and negotiate Traditional Long Term Care (TLTC) in
Illinois you must have an Accident and Health license and complete a one time
training course titled Traditional Long Term Care. The six (6) hour training
course can be used for continuing education for resident licensees. The course
is specific to Illinois and it is course #09400. Also, to sell, solicit and
negotiate Long Term Care Partnership (LTCP) you must complete an Illinois
specific course and it is course #09405 which is also six (6) hours and may be
used as continuing education for resident producers.
Can I repeat a continuing education course within three years?
No. Education credit will not be given to a producer for a repeated course unless three (3) years have passed since the credit was last given for the course.
May I carry over continuing education hours?
Yes. You may accumulate a maximum of 45 credit hours. Education credit hours
will be applied in the order the Division receives them.
How do I receive a certificate of completion?

24 hours of passing your final exam.
What’s a passing score on a final exam?
70% or better.
What happens if I fail my final exam?
If you fail to pass the final for a ProSchools CE course, an alternate final exam
will be issued until you do pass.
