Requirements - Broker: First License Renewal
License renewals are due to be submitted to the Oregon Real Estate Agency by the last day of the month of the licensee’s birth month. Brokers first licensed after July 1, 2002 must complete the 30-hour Advanced Real Estate Practices course prior to their first license renewal. This course may be used to satisfy CE requirements as well, if approved by the licensee’s principal broker.

Advanced Real Estate Practices is a post-license course intended to help broaden a new licensee’s knowledge of the practice of real estate beyond the entry level, with an emphasis on current issues. Study materials include the fundamentals of business ethics and conflict resolution, current events affecting real estate as well as legislative changes, an advanced discussion on the economics of business (specifically the real estate industry), and a review of recent OR Real Estate Agency hearings.

Requirements - Broker: Second Renewal and Beyond and Property Manager: All Renewals
Oregon real estate brokers and principal brokers and property managers are required to complete 30 hours of continuing education to renew their license to active status. Licensees must complete a minimum of 15 hours in "Core" topics and the remaining 15 may be elective. The majority of ProSchools courses are "Core" topics. License renewals are due to be submitted to the Oregon Real Estate Agency the last day of the month of the licensee’s birth month.

The Oregon Real Estate Agency does not review and approve real estate continuing education courses. Rather, the agent’s principal broker reviews and approves continuing education credits completed by each licensee who reports to him or her. ProSchools’ courses are recognized as the highest quality and accepted by all principal brokers in Oregon for continuing education credit. With a ProSchools course, you’re guaranteed approval!

As a courtesy, the Oregon Real Estate Agency will send a license renewal form to you one month before the expiration date. You need to send the completed renewal form (including your original signature, and if applicable, your principal broker’s signature) to the Real Estate Agency along with the appropriate renewal fee.

No doubt about it: There's a lot to learn after you get your real estate license! Required for your first renewal in Oregon, Advanced Real Estate Practices goes beyond the prelicense study and helps you master the skills needed to be successful in your new real estate career. You will explore issues facing new real estate professionals, including agency relationships, listings, pricing property, purchase and sale agreements, financing, and closing.
