ProSchools, an NMLS approved course provider, submitted several prelicense courses to the NMLS in mid-July. The NMLS will not be approving continuing education courses until late 2009. Louisiana Loan Originator Renewal Requirements

10 hours of continuing education must be completed by December 31 of each year. The hours must include at least 3 hours of federal laws and rules; 2 hours of ethics, including fraud, consumer protection, and fair lending issues; and 2 hours of training relating to lending standards for nontraditional mortgage products, i.e., any product that is not a 30-year fixed rate mortgage. In addition, 2 of the continuing education hours must be NMLS-approved courses taught by either the Mortgage Bankers Association or the National Association of Mortgage Brokers.
