The Youth Development Fund is the philanthropic arm of ProSchools, Inc. The Fund’s goal is to encourage educational programs that help young people improve their lives and reduce suffering. We seek primarily to support programs that are innovative in nature.

This Initiative springs from ProSchools commitment to being a kind and generous corporate citizen. We operate the Youth Development Fund with two primary thoughts in mind:

  • To whom much is given, much is expected
  • Education and training opens doors and creates opportunity

Our Structure        What We Fund        How to Apply

Our Structure
Small cash grants, typically not to exceed $5,000, are given in January and again in July of each year. Requests for funding must be short and sweet and in the form of a one-page concept paper. ProSchools may provide additional in-kind support to selected projects. In-kind support may include printing services, computer equipment, management consulting, or instructional advice.

What We Fund
ProSchools seeks to fund and encourage small projects that provide education and training to young people who would not otherwise receive this kind of service. Training in personal development, art, theatre, job skills, entrepreneurship, self-sufficiency, creative thinking, and accountability are, to name a few, acceptable projects. Also, projects that help provide a “missing ingredient” in a current educational program are of interest. ProSchools has always encouraged innovation and experimentation in education. An applicant must be a 501(c) 3 organization and provide a copy of its determination letter prior to funding.

The following are projects or organizations that are typically not funded:

  • Public and private schools (however, projects operated by private non-profits that work with schools in an innovative manner are encouraged to apply)
  • Most capital expenses, endowments, general fundraising
  • Direct support for individuals
  • Athletic teams or student activities
  • Programs providing health services, day care, legal services, or services for adults, although programs for young adults are acceptable.

How to Apply
Requests for funding should include the following:

  • Organization name, address, telephone, contact person name, email, and web site
  • Simple statement of the project’s purpose
  • Who will benefit from the project and why
  • Specific funding request
  • Supplementary information about the organization may be included as well
