Licensing Exam Information

Washington real estate license applicants must pass a computerized license examination administered by AMP, a national testing firm. As of May 1, 2012 the requirements to schedule an exam are:
  1. Complete your required prelicense education and have it reported to AMP by your education provider. ProSchools will report your education within 3-days of course completion.
  2. Visit the AMP website.
  3. Choose the "Real Estate" category.
  4. Select "Wahington Real Estate Examination Program."
  5. Choose the exam you want to take.

For more information, see the Candidate Handbook on the AMP website.

On test day you will need to bring the following to the test center:

  • Two current (not expired) forms of identification that include your current name and signature. At least one of these must have your current photograph.

As of May 1, 2012 students are no longer required to bring a Certificate of Education Document (CED) to the testing center. If you have completed any of the required prelicense courses prior to May 1, 2012 and have not already scheduled your examination appointment, you will not be allowed to schedule your exam until the following steps have been completed:

  1. Register with AMP by selecting the "VIP Portal" tab and select "Washington Student User" link on the AMP website. You will then follow the onscreen instructions.
  2. After you have registered with AMP, scan your completed CED and send it attached to an email message to AMP at AMPEXAMSERVICEs@goAMP.com; or send it by fax to 913-895-4651, ATN: Washington Real Estate.

AMP will enter the required prelicense information from the CED within 48 hours and you will receive an email confirming your eligibility to schedule your examination.

You will have four (4) hours to complete the exam. Be sure to attempt to answer every question. A minimum score of 70% is required to pass the real estate exam. Your score will be available immediately. A passing score is valid for one year.
