Continuing Education Requirements

The Washington Department of Licensing requires real estate licenses to be renewed every two years. Anyone who was licensed prior to July 1, 2010 and is renewing their license for the first time, must complete the 30-hour Real Estate Practices course, in addition to 30 hours of other CE courses (3 hours of which must be in the prescribed core curriculum).

Washington Real Estate License Renewal Requirements – First Renewal For Individuals Licensed After July 1, 2010
Due to recent law changes anyone who was licensed as of July 1, 2010 and is renewing their broker license for the first time (formerly called a salesperson), must complete 90 hours of education to renew. The hours of education must include a new 30-hour Advanced Practices course, a new 30-hour Real Estate Law course and 30 hours of continuing education, including the 3-hour core curriculum.

Requirements - Second Renewal and Beyond
The Washington Department of Licensing requires real estate licenses to be renewed every two years. In order to do so, you must complete 30 hours of continuing education, with three of those in an approved core curriculum topic. Due to recent law changes anyone renewing their license as of July 1, 2010 must also complete a Transitions course. The Transitions course must be taken once but can be taken in a subsequent renewal period. Inactive licensees are not required to complete the continuing education at the time of renewal.
