Continuing Education FAQ
What are the continuing education requirements for licensees licensed on or before November 30, 2009?
Licensees who have already been required to complete continuing education in order to renew a license, meaning the licensee was issued a license on or before November 30, 2009, must complete 14 hours of Commission-approved continuing education. The continuing education course may be elective courses. All continuing education must have been taken on or after June, 2010. ProSchools courses are approved by the Commission as elective topics.
What are the continuing education requirements for licensees who obtained their license between December 1, 2009 and November 30, 2011?
Sales licensees who obtained their licenses between December 1, 2009 and November 30, 2011 (this is the first time continuing education is required) are required to complete a specific 14 hours of continuing education. The first seven hours of the required course are applicable to all recently licensed practitioners. The other seven hours of the required course are divided into residential and commercial modules and licensees are permitted to choose which module best reflects their practices. ProSchools does not currently offer continuing education for first renewal licensees. The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission website lists providers for the required courses.
What is the deadline to complete continuing education and renew my license?
Licenses expire on May 31 of every even-numbered year. The Commission mails renewal notices two to three months prior to the license expiration date. Notices are mailed to the most recent employer address that was reported to the Commissioner.
