Licensing Requirements
To get your contractor license in Oregon, you need to:
- Complete the education requirements. You must complete a 16-hour program of study approved by the Oregon CCB. You can enroll in the home-study program or attend live classes. Simply choose what works best for you!
- Pass the Oregon contractor license exam. You will need to pass an 80-question multiple-choice exam with a score of 70% or better. When you complete ProSchools’ program, you will have over a 93% chance of passing the exam the first time.
- Purchase a surety bond.
- Purchase general liability insurance.
- Complete the Oregon CCB application and pay the corresponding fee. As part of this process, you will need to register as a legal business entity (e.g., individual proprietorship, partnership, corporation, LLC) with the state.
Incomplete application packets may delay receiving your license. Read more details in the Oregon Construction Contractors Board License Application booklet prepared by the CCB.
After you’ve completed the 16-hour course, ProSchools will electronically forward your name to the Oregon CCB database, indicating that you’ve fulfilled the educational requirement. Please allow two days after completing your coursework for us to notify the CCB.
You have 24 months from the training completion date to pass the state test and obtain a CCB license. Any training going past 24 months will not be valid!
