Licensing Requirements
To obtain a new real estate license in Nevada, you need to:
- Complete the education requirements. You must complete a 90-hour, state-approved prelicense course in real estate principles, practices, and law, within the five years prior to applying for the license exam. ProSchools’ program includes interesting reading assignments and frequent practice quizzes to prepare you to pass the state license exam.
- Complete a background check. Submit to the Real Estate Division two sets of fingerprints and a processing fee.
- Pass a national and a Nevada state exam with a score of 75% or better within 12 months from time of application. The exam consists of 80 national and 40 state-specific questions. When you complete ProSchools’ program, you’ll have over a 95% chance of passing.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Complete a notarized license application and submit with the following items:
- Fingerprint cards with background check fee made payable to the Nevada Highway Patrol in the amount of $45
- Original examination results
- Real estate education course certificates
- Original license application fee of $125

If you are a salesperson licensed in another state, you need to:
- Complete the education requirements. You must have completed 45 hours of real estate principles and 45 hours of real estate law, including 18 hours of Nevada law. Every applicant must take Nevada real estate law from a Commission approved school. ProSchools’ program includes interesting reading assignments and frequent practice quizzes to prepare you to pass the state license exam.
- Complete a background check. Submit to the Real Estate Division two sets of fingerprints and a processing fee.
- Obtain a license history or letter of good standing from the Real Estate Commission of the state in which you were licensed. Licensing history must be an original document.
- Show proof of passing the national and Nevada state exam within one year of the application date. Applicants may use their national examination results from another state if dated within one year of the date of application but must show proof of those results.
- Complete a license application and submit with the following items:
- Fingerprint cards with background check fee made payable to the Nevada Highway Patrol in the amount of $45
- Original examination results
- Real estate education course certificates
- Original license application fee of $145
