Continuing Education Requirements
The SAFE Act requires Colorado licensed mortgage loan originators to meet annual continuing education requirements. The minimum continuing education requirements to renew a mortgage loan originator license in Colorado are:
- Complete 8 hours of NMLS-approved continuing education. The education must include a minimum of:
- three hours of federal mortgage law;
- two hours of ethics;
- two hours related to the nontraditional mortgage market place.
- Complete a 2-hour DRE MLO Annual Update course.
Licensees who pass the National portion of the SAFE test in the same calendar year they are licensed are exempt from all continuing education requirements for that year. For information on Colorado license renewal requirements, visit the Colorado Department of Real Estate
website or the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System
website.
