Continuing Education Requirements
Life-Only and/or Accident and Health Agent
Complete a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education for that license type each two-year license term, including four hours of ethics continuing education.
Property and Casualty Broker/Agent
Complete a minimum of 25 hours of continuing education for that license type for each of the first four 12-month period, starting from the issuance date of the original license, including four hours of ethics continuing education. Thereafter, complete a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education for that license type each two-year license term, including four hours of ethics continuing education. Additionally, property and casualty or personal lines licensees must complete a 3-hour Homeowner Insurance Valuation training course before selling homeowner insurance. ProSchools' 3-hour Homeowner Insurance Valuation course is approved to meet this requirement.
There are additional courses required if you sell or wish to sell annuities, flood insurance or long-term care products. All states require licensees who sell flood insurance to complete a one-time course that is at least three hours in length. Several states require courses to represent annuity products and long term care products.
