Oregon law requires that all Oregon real estate brokers complete a 30-hour Advanced Real Estate Practices course to renew their real estate license the first time. The Agency has issued new rules effective January 1, 2011. Here is the information I found on the Oregon Real Estate Agency website:
“If you are renewing your broker license for the first time on or before December 31, 2010, you must:
- Complete the 30-hour Advanced Real Estate Practices course. You may choose to complete this course from an Agency-approved course provider or you may take the Board-approved course available after July 1, 2010. (OAR 863-020-0008)
- Submit the certificate of attendance to your principal broker. Your principal broker will certify your continuing education on the Agency’s Continuing Education Certification form and maintain records of continuing education for all associated licensees for six years. (OAR 863-015-0260)
- Submit the completed license renewal form with fee to the Agency. Forms and fees must be received by the Agency or postmarked no later December 31, 2010. If your renewal form and fee are received by the Agency or postmarked after December 31, 2010, you must comply with the license renewal requirements effective January 1, 2011 to renew your license.
- Meet the new continuing education requirements for future license renewals. (OAR 863-020-0010)”
“If you are renewing a broker license for the first time on or after January 1, 2011 you must:
- Complete the Advanced Real Estate Practices course and the Board-approved three-hour Law and Rule Required Course. (OAR 863-020-0010) You may meet this requirement by either:
- Completing the Advanced Real Estate Practices course from an Agency-approved course provider on or before December 31, 2010, and the three-hour Law and Rule Required Course available after July 1, 2010; or
- Completing a Board-approved Advanced Real Estate Practices course after July 1, 2010, which contains the Board-approved three-hour Law and Rule Required Course.
- Self-certify on the License Renewal Form that you have met the Advanced Real Estate Practices course requirement.
- Fill out a Real Estate Licensee Continuing Education Record form.
- Maintain your certificates of attendance and your completed Real Estate Licensee Continuing Education Record form for three years after renewal of your license. (OAR 863-020-0015)
- Meet the new continuing education requirements for future license renewals after January 1, 2011. (OAR 863-020-0010)”
ProSchools is listed on the Oregon Real Estate Agency provider list and currently offers the new three-hour Law and Rule Requried Course (LARRC).
If you renew before December 31, 2010 you will not have to take the new three-hour course until your next renewal.
