- Beginning January 1, 2011, continuing education providers must:
- Be certified by the Real Estate Agency;
- Maintain records of attendees for each course;
- Ensure that instructors meet the required qualifications;
- Issue a certificate of attendance for real estate licensees who have completed a course.
ProSchools plans to be one of the first certified education provider. After July 1, 2010, watch for ProSchools to be listed on the Agency’s list of certified education providers. We will also develop the required 3-hour Law and Rule Update course by late summer/early fall.
Prior to the new rules, licensees could get their continuing education by simply attending trainings provided by their branch or local title company. Some licensees would arrive late and leave early and receive full credit for attendance. Some principal brokers signed off just to keep their brokers in compliance. The new laws were created to avoid “cutting corners” and to make sure the education is provided by certified providers and quality instructors.
