The State of Washington has new requirements for obtaining a new real estate license and renewing a current license. As of July 1, 2010 a new real estate licensee must take 90 clock hours of pre-licensing education including 60 hours of Fundamentals and 30 hrs of Practices and pass a state broker exam. The new licensee will become a licensed real estate broker instead of a licensed salesperson. Salespersons licensed prior to July 1, 2010 will be grandfathered into a broker status.
New 3 HR Transition Course: A new mandatory 3 hr continuing education Transition course is required to be taken one time by anyone renewing their license after July 1, 2010.
FIRST RENEWAL – Licensed Prior to July 1, 2010: Persons licensed prior to July 1, 2010 will only need to take 60 hours of CE which includes: 30 hrs of Practices, 3 hrs Core and 27 hrs electives.
FIRST RENEWAL – Licensed After to July 1, 2010: Persons licensed after July 1, 2010 must take 90 hrs of CE: This must consist of 30 hrs of Advanced Practices, 30 hrs of Law and 30 hrs of CE (including 3 hrs of Core)
Managing Broker: The Managing Broker requirements have been reduced to 90 hrs which includes: 30 hrs Advanced Law, 30 hrs Business Management and 30 hrs Brokerage Management.
