Writing Good Real Estate Blogs

Hello fellow and future real estate licensees. I just got back from vacation and wanted to do something different. As many of you are new to the real estate industry, I want to help you in creating your own real estate blogs and online identity. After all, real estate licensees are independent businesses owners and need to create a unique professional identity to be competitive. Writing real estate blogs about current real estate activities, real estate sales, mortgage interest rates and foreclosure statistics in your area is a good way to achieve that.

Creating a real estate blog subject is just one step of the blogging process. Determine a topic to write about in the real estate, mortgage, or related industry. Once you have your data and information collected on what you will write about, you will need to research other relevant websites and industry-related blogs to link to. You will need to use good real estate SEO key words and create a good title for each blog.

Fresh Relevant Content: Know your audience and write about subjects that will be of interest or of benefit to them.

SEO: Google and other  search engines rank blogs higher for fresh, updated and unique content. Google encourages using links in blogs for higher rankings.

External Linking: You want to optimize external linking for SEO. Use great websites and blogs that are relevant to what you are talking about. I did a Google search on “best real estate blogs” and found  Bigger Pockets Blog which lists the ”Top 35 Real Estate Blogs” online. Because my subject is about writing a good real estate blog, this resource might be of interest to my audience, so I linked it to this blog.  As a blog writer, you want to create a topic to write about, find relative external resources that will benefit your audience and link to those resources.

Internal Linking: Internal linking within your own website is important for SEO.  You want to link several pages of your website to your blog if it is appropriate for the subject you are writing about. I’ll use ProSchools’ website as an example. If I am writing about our online real estate education, I would write something like: “To get started in your real estate career, you will want the best real estate education available.  ProSchools.com offers convenient, flexible online real estate education. Find information for Oregon real estate ProSchools.com offers convenient, flexible online real estate education. Find information for Oregon real estate pre-licensing education and continuing education. ProSchools offers  education to become a Principal Broker.”  You get the idea, write what you want to say about your website and link to it!

Post Title: You will want to create a good post title and be descriptive about what your blog is about. Don’t be vague in your blog title.  Example of a good blog title: “Real Estate License Exam: 5 Fatal Errors.” Example of a bad title: “Exam Errors”.  The more descriptive your blog title, the better it will rank.

Keywords: You will need to learn how to select the best GOOGLE  SEO target keywords . Click on the link and watch the Google YouTube demonstration on keywords. Go to this link SEMRUSH.com and practice analyzing your keywords. You might want to save these links as favorites!

Blog Roll: You could post a list of relevant industry blogs (make sure to link them) on your own blog.

These are a few beginner tips for getting started in creating a real estate blog. Writing a blog takes practice and research. Find subjects of interest to write about regarding the real estate market in your area and write a real estate or mortgage article at least once a week or more. If you run out of ideas, surf the Internet for ideas but make sure you link your blog to the sites you came across that inspired you.

Good luck, have fun and happy blogging!
