How do you study? Do you skim, scan, peruse and flip pages, screeching to a halt when you come across info that grabs your attention while searching for an unrelated subject? Well, good… that works. Some of the time.
Lloyd Alexander, children’s fantasy book author, shares that “we learn more by looking for the answer to a question and not finding it than we do from learning the answer itself.” I wholeheartedly agree, unless you’re studying for career-determining exams like the NMLS tests.
This is a time for focus and discipline and concentration. Remember, this is not hard stuff to learn! It simply requires a quiet place, surveying the chapter before getting into it, studying one lesson at a time for short periods and repeating each lesson more than once. Albert Einstein told people “It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer.” I don’t know about that, but he did possess curiosity and a sense of purpose which students studying for the NMLS tests likely share. An IQ of 170 is not required here... if you were to put the new GFE laws in front of Einstein, he’d be challenged to learn them, too. But I bet he could if he stayed with it long enough.
Just like you.
