HUD ANNOUNCES FINAL RULE SETTING STANDARDS FOR STATE COMPLIANCE WITH SAFE ACT

The final rule spells out the criteria used to determine whether a state has a system in place for licensing and registering mortgage loan originators as required by the SAFE Act. The rule clarifies the meaning of “engaging in the business of a loan originator,” which determines if an individual must be licensed, and also provides that certain activities do not amount to engaging in the business of a loan originator. Here's the official press release with a link to the final rule.
