The
SAFE Act isn’t just about
education and testing, although that is where ProSchools spends most our time. Every mortgage loan originator must also complete a
criminal background check (CBC) in NMLS. The timing of when the CBC must be done is different for new applicants and existing mortgage loan originators. Either the mortgage loan originator or their employer can create the CBC request through the NMLS.
