New Mortgage Continuing Education Approvals

Over the past month ProSchools has received approval from the NMLS for quite a few mortgage continuing education courses. With the “no-repeat” rule, we want to make sure we offer mortgage loan originators new courses each year, to avoid the issue of taking the same course two years in a row.

Here are the new continuing education courses for which ProSchools received NMLS-approval in March and April:
•8 hour North Carolina SAFE Comprehensive 2011 CE (#2160)
•2 hour New Jersey Law: Mortgage Lending Today 2011 CE (#2152)
•9 hour Washington SAFE Comprehensive 2011 CE (#2147)
•8 hour Rhode Island SAFE Comprehensive 2011 CE (#2165)
•7 hour SAFE Core: Impact of the Dodd-Frank Act 2011 CE (#2122)
•8 hour SAFE Comprehensive: Impact of the Dodd-Frank Act 2011 CE (#2121)
•2 hour SAFE: Reliable Nontraditional Mortgage Products 2011 CE (#2096)
•3 hour SAFE Federal Law CE

We also just got the 2 hour 2011 Colorado Annual Update course approved. Colorado mortgage loan originators need this course to renew their license, however, this course is approved by the state, NOT NMLS.  Colorado requires 10 hours of mortgage continuing education total. The hours must consist of 8 hours of NMLS-approved courses and the state-approved 2 hour Annual Update course.

Last year a lot of states did not require loan originators complete continuing education because many MLOs did their prelicense education in 2010. Get ready...this year will be different! All mortgage loan originators will need to complete a minimum of 8 hours CE. Each state's MLOs must meet this minimum standard, however, many states have gone above this standard and require state-specific hours and/or additional hours. Check out the NMLS for 2011 State-Specific Education Requirement information.
