Hello fellow PIBers, your insurance testing provider is changing! The State of Oregon has recently entered into a contract with Thompson Prometric, located in Baltimore, Maryland. Prometric has locations worldwide, and delivers testing content among a host of other services.
So, when are things changing? Read on for more specific information!
Promissor is the current testing company in Oregon, and their contract with the state has expired. As required, the insurance division put out a RFP (Request for Proposal) several months ago, and Prometric has won the bid to test insurance licensing candidates in Oregon. Promissor will conclude their testing services in Oregon effective on 11/30/07, and will not accept examination reservations after that date.
According to Jim Thompson, the newly crowned Licensing Manager at the Oregon insurance division, Prometric will begin accepting exam reservations shortly and will actually begin testing here on 12/4/07. There will be no exams scheduled between 11/30/07 and 12/03/07 to allow time to install the new systems and coordinate testing centers.
What else is happening? Good question! We do not have any information available as of this writing regarding:
- Content on the examination and the test content outline. It is anticipated that there will not be any major changes to the test due to the provider change.
- Fees and how to schedule an examination.
- Testing center locations and hours of operation.
- Candidate licensing handbooks and applications to apply for your insurance license.
I will be in constant touch with the insurance division to find out as much as I can as details emerge and become available. Please let me know if you have any questions or other concerns, and I will be glad to find out what I can! Watch the PIB for further info!
